Connie Glore MA LMHC RYT
The most important aspect of a therapeutic relationship is that the client gains confidence in his or her own ability to negotiate life. A physical practice of yoga helps one stand on one's own two feet. Yoga builds an ethical path on which those two feet may walk.
There are many parallels between current mental health systems and the psychological guidance of yoga. Both require self-study, compassion for self and others, and a commitment to seeing the truth about ourselves.
The most important tool particular to yoga, however, is the interweaving of physical strength and balance with emotional strength and balance. It is a complete body and mind connection.
Yoga teaches the student that he or she is sufficient to the task of living and provides the tools. The student may take heart in this! If we are diligent and compassionate towards ourselves and others, we can change unhealthy behaviors and become the person we aspire to be.
Connie is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher/E-RYT and Licensed Mental Health Clinician/LMHC with 30 years of experience in providing yoga to a variety of students for the purpose of improved health and well-being. She studies in the Iyengar style of yoga with Liz Owen E-RYT500 C-IAYT and Senior Advanced Iyengar Teacher Patricia Walden. Connie is certified by the International Association of Yoga Therapists/C-IAYT as a yoga therapist. She is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider/YACEP.
